Pinay in Iraq finally coming home two months after death

Laida Hajan, a Filipino worker in the Kurdistan Region in Iraq, is finally coming home, two months after she passed away. ChargĂ© d'Affaires Elmer Cato earlier said they belatedly learned of Hajan's death after her manpower agency in Erbil failed to immediately inform them about it. Hajan "will soon be reunited with her loved ones in the Philippines," Cato said on Facebook. The official said it was actually Hajan's employer who told the embassy of her death. Cato said Hajan, a 36-year-old mother from Indanan, Sulu, was a victim of human trafficking who left Mindanao via a boat ride to Malaysia and somehow ended up in Iraq. Cato said the Filipina died in her sleep. —KBK, GMA News
